About

Hi! I am Lauren and I generate new ideas and play with paint in Louisville, Kentucky. As a child I was creating imaginary worlds for my favorite characters, designing the next big thing in fashion (ha!), and disovering new methods of art making. Approaching adulthood, I began drawing pets.

Enter iwannadrawyourdog:

A riff from The Stooges song, "I wannna be your dog," iwannadrawyourdog happened as I was spending my days creating pet portraits. It started as a joke, and was memorable, so it stuck. Oh yeah, this seems like a good time to mention, I'm a huge fan of pugs. You'll see.

In my twenties, I decided to go back to school and received a degree in Visual Communications. This is where I discovered a knack for digital art making and found a love for solving the problems that may arise when creating a logo or strengthening a brand.

I now find comfort in finding that sweet spot between fine art and the brain of a designer and continue to fill the voids with paintings, collages, carvings, textile works, and assemblages.  My fine art centers around how we interact with others in the world and deal with the challenges that life brings along with the ebbs and flows of the happenings of the days as they play out.  Gender roles and rebellion against tradition light a fire under a good portion of the things I create, and I find mad inspiration in color combintation and texture.

Hope to see you in the wild soon, until then, stay weird and do you.
